Hello and welcome to Casa Carina, a boutique homewares store brimming with cool and quirky pieces to style your home. We’re glad you found us.
The Casa Carina collection is carefully curated by founder Lisa Jacobs, a life-long home accessories addict with an eye for detail and, here, she shares her story with us about why she founded Casa Carina.
Lisa, why did you start Casa Carina?
Casa Carina is a collection of everything I’m interested in. I have a passion for styling and home accessories. It began as an amateur passion, but now my friends ask me to help them to put looks together for them in their houses. One of my friends is moving soon and she has asked me to help her put together ideas for every room.
How would you describe your style?
I suppose I would describe it as minimal, but I like to group a few objects together to create a strong focus. I use a lot of neutral and pale greys, but then I’ll have the occasional pop of colour and a few luxe details. The current metallic trend is a great way to introduce a bit of drama to an otherwise neutral look.
Who are your style heroes?
Kelly Hoppen – I love her style
What are your ambitions for Casa Carina?
I’d like people to love these pieces as much as I do. I’ve wanted to work in interiors for a long time – my day job is IT. But, even in IT, I work in procurement and process improvement – perhaps I am always trying to make things a little bit better! Eventually, I’d like to start stocking some small quirky pieces of furniture here – and my ultimate dream is to open a shop.
For the moment though, I’ll be happy if people come to my site to get inspiration and buy a few interesting pieces for themselves or maybe to give as gifts.
What is your favourite room?
Oh that’s difficult! I love my kitchen – I designed it myself, all in shades of grey and white. But I adore my garden as well – I enjoy being out there planting things! And my study too, I’ve designed that in black and grey, it’s a really good working space.
What are your favourite accessories at the moment?
My leopard-print wine glasses are an old favourite. Perhaps it doesn’t match my usually neutral style, but I think every home needs a little bit of leopard print!
My most recent acquisition is a black and white crackle vase that I am stocking in the shop… I love all the pieces on Casa Carina, but I don’t have room for everything in my house! This is one piece I just couldn’t say no to.
I am also a big fan of Doug Hyde’s art. I have an original sculpture of his, of a man holding a cat, which I love. It reminds me of my cat Samuel – he was nearly ten when I got him and he is nearly twenty now.
What are your style tips for 2017?
Concrete is making a comeback – we’ve got some great pieces on the site which will look good in any home – even if you’re not going for a full-on industrial look.
Metallics are continuing to be big news this year. I love this trend and you’ll find lots of pieces with metallic accents on the site.
Colour-wise emerald green, yellow, pastel pink and burnt orange seem to be big news this year. But here on Casa Carina you’ll always find a lot of neutrals.
Please – have a look and see what catches your eye!
